According to media reports, Aer Lingus is poised to name Emerald Airlines as its new regional carrier, taking over the Aer Lingus Regional contract formerly held by Stobart Air. Emerald Airlines had already emerged as the preferred bidder from a tender process from 2020 that was intended to replace the regional contract with Stobart in December 2022. The new service is expected to begin in January 2022 – a year earlier than planned due to the decline of Stobart Air.
