Sixth 787 test flight a success

Boeing has states that its sixth 787 flight test aircraft – the last test aircraft to join the 787 fleet – achieved first flight on Monday, operating a 1 hour 4 minute flight from Everett’s Paine Field to Boeing Field in Seattle.

The sixth test plane is powered by GEnx-1B engines. It was intended to be the final test plane but Boeing will add another two aircraft to the test goup for ground and flight tests.

Boeing needs the 787 to be certified on time to meet its already delayed delivery schedule. ANA will be the first airline to receive the 787, which it expects to be delivered in Q1 2011.
