Perm Engine Company has completed the certification of the PS-90A2 engine, officially reaching the phase of serial production. However, the serial production of PS-90A2 will not start until 2011 because the plant needs financial support (including technical retrofitting) in the amount of about 500 million roubles. The company expects to obtain the support from the federal budget soon. The engines will be attached to Tu-204SM. United Aircraft Corporation is currently in talks with Red Wings and Moskva Airlines (former Atlant-Soyuz Airlines) about the purchase of Tu-204SMs.
