The transport minister Anthony Albanese has indicated that he will hold talks with Italy to seek improved traffic rights for Australian flag carriers. Currently, Australian carriers can offer 1000 codeshare seats a week to Italy. Qantas currently holds of those seats, but Virgin Australia hopes to acquire the 600 seats that have come up for renewal.
