Airbus calls on SAA to hurry an A350 order

Airbus has stated that South African Airways (SAA) needs to move fast if it wants to order the A350 XWB. “There’s a huge demand for this aircraft, as it’s a real game-changer. We’re pushing SAA to move faster, as we have a limited production capacity,” Airbus Africa VP of sales Hadi Akoum told journalists in Cape Town.
Acting CEO Nico Bezuidenhout has confirmed that the airline will order 25 to 30 new long-haul aircraft but SAA is still deciding between an order for the A350 and the Boeing 787.
If SAA orders an A350 now it could expected delivery in 2020, but Airbus said that the airline could lease an aircraft by 2016.
