VIETNAM AIRLINES EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR BOMB THREATS

Vietnamese police have arrested a former Vietnam Airlines employee on suspicion of having made bomb threats against flights in October. Nguyen Bang Viet, a former flight attendant coordinator, is alleged to have texted a chief attendant saying that a bomb had been planted on a flight from Hanoi to Cambodia’s Siem Reap. The text message caused Vietnam Airlines to cancel the flight, tighten security and launch a search for the bomb, although nothing was found. The case is currently under investigation.
