James Meyler named as CEO of ORIX Aviation

ORIX Aviation has officially announced that James Meyler will succeed David Power as the CEO of the ORIX Aviation Group.

ORIX Aviation last week successfully concluded its acquisition of a 30% stake in Avolon.

Meyler is currently CEO of ORIX Aviation Hong Kong and Group Deputy CEO & CCO. He joined ORIX Aviation in 2003 and has held previous positions as Executive Assistant to Tony Ryan along with roles at Aergo Capital and KBC Aerospace. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Dublin and is Chairman of the Wings Club Foundation European Chapter and a Board member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) organization.

David Power has stepped down as leader of the aircraft leasing company to become Chairman of ORIX Aviation Hong Kong and has moved to Hong Kong to take up the new role. Power will also join the Board of Avolon in which ORIX Aviation has recently acquired a 30 percent stake. David joined ORIX Aviation in 1992 as General Counsel and was appointed CEO from 2004 until assuming his new roles this month.

“James and I have worked together for over 15 years and I am extremely proud of what has been accomplished at ORIX Aviation,” said Power. “I am delighted that James will assume leadership of the ORIX Aviation Group and I particularly look forward to continuing to partner with James and the core team in my new role as Chairman of ORIX Aviation Hong Kong, for me it is a great achievement to leave a strong leadership team in place as I step down as CEO.”

In addition, the Board of Directors of ORIX Aviation has promoted chief financial officer, Marie-Louise Kelly to the main Board of ORIX Aviation alongside Meyler, Kiyoshi Fushitani (Board Director of ORIX Corporation and Head of ORIX Corporations Global Business Headquarters) and Kei Kitagawa (Head of ORIX Corporations Aviation and Investment Group).

Paul O’Dwyer will be promoted to the position of Chief Commercial Officer.

“David and I are very pleased to acknowledge Marie-Louise and Paul’s contributions to ORIX Aviation’s success over the last number of years” said Meyler. “They have earned tremendous respect within ORIX internally, as well as in our industry overall. Marie-Louise is well deserving of this promotion to the Board of ORIX Aviation along with Paul O’Dwyer to Chief Commercial Officer.

He added: “I am honoured to serve as ORIX Aviation’s next Chief Executive Officer and I look forward to working with our fantastic team at ORIX Aviation, all of our global stakeholders, airline customers and asset management clients, as our team provides industry leading services to our customers and drives enhanced shareholder returns”.
