SRI LANKAN TO TAKE DELIVERY OF SEVEN AIRCRAFT

Sri Lankan Airlines will take delivery of seven aircraft by the end of 2011, including five Airbus A320’s.

Sri Lankan’s CEO Manoj Gunawardena says that the new aircraft will “will allow Sri Lankan to significantly enhance the passenger experience on board our flights, give us the ability to fly to more cities in the Subcontinent, Middle East and Southeast Asia, and to also increase capacity to existing destinations in these regions.”

Sri Lanka last delivery of a brand new aircraft was in June 2000, when it received the last of six A330-200’s. Two A320’s will arrive in December 2010 and early 2011, with the three brand new aircraft will be delivered from May-November 2011. All five aircraft are on operating leases.
