SpiceJet adds flights to mainland China

SpiceJet is planning to add more flights to mainland China as trade expands it and India. The airline, which flies four times a week to Guangzhou in China, aims to fly to three more Chinese destinations this year from India. At the moment, Air India is the only other Indian carrier that offers direct services to mainland China.

Neil Mills, chief executive officer of SpiceJet, aims to triple the contribution of overseas flights to sales to 20% of total revenue in the next 18 months.

SpiceJet is expected to post a loss of 473.5 million rupees ($8.7 million) in the year ended March 31, narrower than a year earlier. Sales are estimated to rise 45% to 57.3 billion rupees.
