Lion Air to order Bombardier aircraft?

Lion Air CEO Rusdi Kirana caused a storm of interest in Canada yesterday after he said he would most likely become Bombardier’s largest customer by way of a possible CSeries order at Farnborough Air Show in 2014 with deliveries over five years from 2015/16. The CS300, which can be configured for between 135 and 160 seats, would fill a void between its 72-seat ATR turboprops and larger, 189-seat Boeing 737s, Kirana said. He added that he was pleasantly “surprised” by the aircraft, which he described as being “beyond my expectations.”

Although Bombardier might not be pleased with the comment that they usually make “normal” aircraft.

So will Farnborough 2014 be all about Bombardier? It is now in the hands of the sales team to secure a deal. A great deal can happen to throw this off course.
