Austrian approves E195 purchases

The supervisory board of Austrian Airlines has approved the purchase of 17 Embraer E-195s from Lufthansa CityLine with an average age of four years. The first aircraft will be delivered in August 2015 and used for training purposes as the airline readies around 200 pilots to be retrained to operate the E195. The first commercial flight is scheduled for January 2016. Lufthansa CityLine is due to receive Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen jets from Eurowings, which is to become an all-A320 operator. Estonian Air is to wet lease one Embraer E170 to serve the Austrian Airlines’ Eastern European route network from June to October.
