The Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) and Qantas have failed to resolve an ongoing dispute regarding job security. Qantas claims they are reducing costs in an effort to remain productive and that the agreement would cause redundancies that are inefficient toward that goal. The company claims that no matter the efficiencies the pilots have to offer, there will be no formal job security requirements written into their agreement with the airline, says The Australian newspaper. AIPA is holding meetings with its pilots in Sydney on Friday and Melbourne on Monday to discuss options including the potential for a strike.
