13th strike by the French

The 13th strike in three months by French air traffic controllers is having the usual effect on flights across Western Europe with Ryanair, easyJet and Vueling cancelling 200 flights between them.

The walkout by the USAC-CGT trade union is having little effect on Air France, which expects to run a full programme of flights today, but with some possible delays.

Ryanair has cancelled 102 flights, including 18 serving Marseille and 17 at Paris-Beauvais. The airline said 18,000 passengers were affected by cancellations and 100,000 others would suffer delays.

Vueling cancelled 66 flights on Tuesday – including 28 to/from Paris-Orly. Easyjet has cancelled 46 flights (26 serving French destinations). There will be delays on other easyJet flights, as 65% of the airline’s routes use French airspace.

In the past three months, 1,061 flights to/from/within France have been cancelled because of strike action with many more delayed.
