Rates for airlines that renewed their hull and liability coverage in November rose by an average of 19%. Research by Aon found that this increase was due largely to three airlines that have suffered losses and/or come out of group insurance programs. Only eight of the 22 renewals placed so far this month have experienced rate increases. Although the research suggests the market is hard, Aon said that the aviation market appears to be in the process of softening, and that if there are no further losses this year, total aviation market claims are forecast to be $1.96 billion this
