Around 16.6 million passengers passed through airports run by Spanish state operator Aena in February, a 2.2% increase on February 2019. About 10.5 million of the passengers flew internationally, down 0.2% on 2019 but 44% more than in 2022. Almost 7.5 million passengers travelled via the two busiest airports in the network, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat. The network’s airports catered for almost 155,000 flights and over 80,000 tonnes of cargo.
