Work begins to restore the Philippine’s Category 1 status.

Joseph Emilio Abaya, the incoming transport and communications secretary, has got his work cut out attempting to restore Philippine’s Category 1 status after it was taken away in 2007. This led to a chain reaction of the EU banning all Philippine carriers to fly to Europe, which in-turn led to them being banned from upgrading their aircraft.
