The White House was put on lockdown in Washington, DC following a small aircraft violating its airspace. The unathorised aircraft could not be communicated with as fighter jets were scrambled for an interception, forcing the capital to be put in a state of emergency. The surrounding areas were evacuated. It took less than thirty minutes for the lockdown to be lifted after it was determined there was no threat, according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) – bi-national organisation in charge of defending the airspaces of the United States of America and Canada.
