California-based Joby Aviation has completed the second stage of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) certification process for its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Joby believes itself to be “the first eVTOL company to reach this milestone”,  having also been the first eVTOL company to complete stage one and attain publication in the Federal Register. “Achieving this goal moves Joby one step closer to its target of launching commercial passenger service by 2025,” the company said, with three more FAA approval rounds to go. “ We are now able to confidently focus our efforts on closing the remaining certification
