The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps stated that the man who tried to hijack an Iran Air passenger plane en route to Syria on Friday night had connections with counter-revolutionary groups. The man claimed to passengers and crew that there was a bomb on board the flight but no explosives were found and he was later arrested by security agents when the plane landed safely in Damascus. The Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the IRGC are investigating the case.
