Cranfield University has introduced a new Saab 340 s/n-456 for the purpose of aviation training to students. Graham Braithwate, professor of Aerodynamics at Cranfield University, said: “This aircraft will be used for 23 different UK universities to teach their aviation engineering students what aviation is really about, bringing mathematics off a page and turning it into flight dynamics for real.” Work has been undertaken to transform this former airliner into a flying classroom and laboratory. Work on the ex Northwest Airlines aircraft has seen major modification package including a heavy check and full painting in order to bring it back
