State aircraft producer PT Dirgantara Indonesia has announced the construction of a new $440,000 hangar to handle the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for Sukhoi superjets. Sri Jaka Heri Kusnanto, Dirgantara engineering director said: “we already have one hangar which can accommodate three units of aircrafts, but we need another hangar.” Eddy Gunawan, the Dirgantara vice director for MRO, estimated the new hangar will require at least Rp 4 billion (US$ 448,000) in investment, but the investment can be higher should the company add more equipment for its workshop.
