Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) is the first Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) within the UK to install a set of ‘Sharklet’ wing tips devices by retrofit on Airbus A320 family aircraft. The retrofit programme for Monarch Airlines Airbus A321 (G-ZBAE) aircraft was carried out by MAEL’s highly experienced engineering team at its new state-of-the-art maintenance facility at Birmingham Airport in the UK. These devices will lower fuel burn (up to 4%), reduce carbon emissions, and will lengthen the aircraft’s service
