On Thursday, March 12, a British Airways A320-200, Flight BA-462 from London Heathrow to Madrid, was climbing out of Heathrow’s runway 09R when the crew stopped the climb at FL100, shut an engine (V2527) down and returned to Heathrow for a safe landing on runway 09L about 45 minutes after departure. Reports from passengers claim one engine emitted a loud bang and streaks of flames were seen during the initial climb.
