Under fire for allegedly purchasing expensive aircraft, Myanma Airways (MA) has clarified that it has leased 10 Boeing aircraft, six 737-800s and four 737-8MAXs starting from June 2015 to the year 2020, from GECAS. “Myanma Airways will lease ten Boeing airplanes from GE Capital Aviation Services. It’s not that we’re buying them. International media only reported last month the combined value of the fleet which is actually owned by the GECAS. They didn’t show how much it will cost MA for the fleet on lease,” said managing director Than Tun.
