The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US is to put in place domestic particulate matter standards in line with those of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The EPA’s update, which will take effect next year, will set emissions standards for new type design engines and in-production engines, covering commercial, business and freight aircraft. The EPA said it and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contributed to the amending in 2020 of related standards by the ICAO, a United Nations body.
