US President Barack Obama speaking at Georgetown University in Washington, said yesterday that he has directed the Departments of Energy and Agriculture and the Navy to work with the private sector to create advanced biofuels that can power commercial and military aircraft. The president outlined an energy policy that includes the goal of lowering dependence on imported oil by one-third. He said that a “substitute for oil that holds tremendous promise is renewable biofuels”
