Airbus’ A350-1000 has flown with a 35% SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) blend at the Singapore airshow, where it will participate in the flying display over the coming days. The SAF, provided by Shell Aviation, was produced via the HEFA-SPK pathway, using cooking oil and tallow as a feedstock. The refuelling was performed at Changi Airport in association with ST-Airport Services, Changi Airport Group and SATS. Airbus became the first aircraft manufacturer to offer customers delivery flights using SAF and continues to act ‘as an important catalyst in the certification process, demonstration flights, partnerships, and policy advocacy of sustainable aviation fuel’.
