The Hungarian carrier Wizz Air will pause flying to and from Moldova in mid-March. Wizz said the decision was based on “elevated “security worries after a Russian missiles aimed at Ukraine entered the former Soviet republic’s airspace. Moldova sits between Romania and Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia since Moscow’s invasion started on February 24 2022. Moldovan authorities said the decision by Wizz, a low-cost airline which has in recent months expanded its operations in the UK, was “regrettable”.
