Carrier Widerøe is to receive Norwegian state funding to “explore possible operating concepts for both a nine-seater electric aircraft and a helicopter aircraft”. Widerøe Zero is to join Widerøe Ground Handling and Widerøe Technical services “to investigate all dimensions of the operation and handling of battery-powered aircraft” over the three years up to 2026. The announcement followed Wideroe teaming up with Rolls-Royce and Embraer in early 2022 “to study a conceptual zero-emission regional aircraft”.
