United Airlines executive vice president for finance Gerry Laderman said that the Covid pandemic which saw a large number of senior staff retire and a subsequent brain drain as a potential cause for Boeing’s recent manufacturing issues. “Nobody realised the difficulties that we were all going to get hit with as we came out of Covid,” said Laderman at the  Airline Economics’ 2024 Growth Frontiers Conference.
