Spirit Airline’s traffic in August, measured in revenue passenger miles (RPMs), rose 18.3% to 1.94 billion, compared to 1.64 billion recorded in Aug 2015. Consolidated capacity (or available seat miles/ASMs) improved 17.1% to 2.22 billion, while load factor increased to 87.1% from 86.2% recorded last August. For the first eight months of 2016, Spirit Airlines registered a 23.1% increase in RPMs to 14.55 billion and a 22.6% rise in ASMs to 16.85 billion, both on a year-over-year basis. Load factor, on the other hand, improved 40 basis points to 86.4% in the period.
