The US Senate will vote tomorrow on a bipartisan bill that would make it illegal for US airlines to comply with the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme. “We hope it will further signal to the EU that there continues to be deep opposition in the US,” said Nancy Young, vice president of environmental affairs for lobby group Airlines for America (A4A). The US State Department and Department of Transportation are also holding a two-day meeting to accelerate efforts within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to design an international solution.
