Scandinavian Airlines System, (SAS) has agreed to sell four of its MD82/87 aircraft to an undisclosed operator. The buyer has also secured options to acquire an additional 19 MD82s and 10 spare JT8D-217C/219 spare engines from SAS. Assuming the options are exercised, this transaction would complete the phase-out of SAS’ remaining MD80 fleet. The first aircraft was delivered to on September 11, 2012 and the next three firm aircraft will be delivered in Q4 2012.
