Qantas has reported one of its Boeing 717s enroute to Darwin from Alice Springs was hit by lightning yesterday, causing minor damage. A Qantas spokesman says the operation of the plane was not affected, but the strike caused minor damage to the exterior of the aircraft. The plane is being assessed by engineers.
