Airlines and passengers are criticising the delay of oil companies in passing on the fall in Brent crude oil prices to aviation turbine fuel prices, despite being quick to raise the price in line with oil hikes. The ATF price for domestic flights in India is the highest globally. Critics say its pricing policy is not transparent and the price is unjustified and does not correspond with refinery costs. India ATF is on average 60-70% higher than its neighbours such as Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
