After “an increasing number of requests from North American companies,” Norway-based low-cost carrier Flyr said on December 19 it would apply to the US Department of Transportation for permission “to operate non-scheduled charter and wet lease flights in and out of the US”. “The shortage of aircraft and crew in the North American market increases the demand for charter and wet lease operations”, according to Flyr chief executive Brede Huser, who said the carrier had in recent months offered an “attractive product consisting of state-of-the-art aircraft and professional crews” to its customers.
