Norwegian Air Shuttle set to close Argentine subsidiary

The Argentine subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle looks set for closure, according to local media reports.

Tickets sales beyond 28 March 2020 have been removed from the booking system. There has been no official word from Norwegian and it looks to be a preventative measure against anticipated currency fluctuations in Argentina which is low.

The parent company is looking to restructure its operations globally.

The peso has been devalued recently and with a new government taking office, the Argentine carrier may be cutting its losses as the current operating environment is not optimal.

Norwegian operates only six routes in the country, so the lost capacity would be picked up easily by other carriers, should it exit.

This news follows the recent closures of long-haul routes by Norwegian Air Shuttle in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
