Qantas has commenced a direct route from Australia to Papua New Guinea, with the first scheduled service flying from Sydney to Port Moresby. This marks the flag carrier’s first commercial flight between the two cities in more than five decades. Two flights will operate a week with the airline’s 737 aircraft. “These flights will meet the growing demand from the business community for travel between Australia and Papua New Guinea,” said Qantas International CEO Sam Wallace. “Our new Sydney service will save customers at least three hours in travel time on return trip by avoiding a stopover in Brisbane”.
