Kuwait Airways is reported to be considering postponing its Airbus aircraft, in favour of leasing aircraft on a short–term basis. In May 2013, Kuwait Airways signed a ‘letter of acceptance” with Airbus for 10 A350-900s and 15 A320neo family aircraft, with options for five more A320neo aircraft and five more A350s. Deliveries are due to start from 2019 or 2020. In addition, Kuwait Airways agreed to lease up to 22 Airbus aircraft while it awaited deliveries. The airline’s board is now reported to be favouring concentrating on closing lease deals for 20 aircraft by April 2014.
