Kenya Airways has secured a $40 million loan from the Kenyan government and a $200 million bridging loan from the African Export-Import Bank. The hope is that these funds will be used to complete the financing needed to take delivery of two 787-8 aircraft currently in storage in Boeing’s Everett facility. Airlines such as Kenya Airways that have traditionally looked to US Export Import Bank support for aircraft financings have been hit hard by the lapse in the bank’s mandate since June.
