A start-up Chinese-backed airline has applied to Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Authority for an air operators’ certificate, according to a report in the South China Morning Post. Greater Bay Airlines put its AOC application into the HKCAA last month according to the SCMP which said it could take up to two years for the new carrier to gain approval to start operations. Greater Bay Airlines is backed by Chinese businessman  Bill Wong Cho-bau, who already runs Shenzhen-based Donghai Airlines.
