Ethiopian Airlines is planning to develop a Southeast Asian hub at Bangkok. The airline intends to use its existing facilities and fifth freedom permissions to establish routes out of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport to destinations such as Singapore and Indonesia. From November 2016, Ethiopian will launch a connecting schedule for its weekly service between Addis Ababa and Bangkok to connect to Hanoi in Vietnam. New routes to Singapore Changi and Soekarno-Hatta, Jakarta, are planned for March next year. The carrier plans to replace the 767 aircraft it uses on existing Southeast Asian schedules with its new Boeing 787s.
