Candela Perez to replace Sanchez-Prieto as Iberia chief

Fernando Candela Perez will be chairman and chief executive of Spanish flag carrier Iberia until the end of 2023. Candela Perez will take up the roles in July, International Airlines Group (IAG) announced in its first quarter 2023 earnings statement. The appointee has worked in aviation for over 30 years, including more than a decade with IAG, where he has been chief transformation officer and chief executive of Iberia Express. The appointment followed incumbent Javier Sánchez-Prieto’s decision to leave IAG “to pursue a new professional project outside of aviation”, the company said.
