Budget carrier Arajet has offered $19 fares on the first available flight to Santo Domingo to Dominican Republic-bound passengers affected by Viva Air’s cessation of operations. Colombia’s Viva said on February 27 that it was halting all flights, claiming it could no longer operate after the country’s authorities stalled a proposed merger with Avianca. Arajet said it “regrets the news of Viva Air’s cessation of operations and expresses its solidarity with the affected staff, pilots, crew and customers”. Affected passengers should contact it by March 10, with travel allowed until March 31 on routes linking Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Cartagena and Barranquilla
