Alliance Air resumed operations connecting Chennai, India to Sri Lanka’s northern city of Jaffna after a three-year Covid-induced hiatus. The four weekly flights started on December 12, 2022. The fight route from Chennai to Jaffna was first introduced in November 2019 and was considered a popular route due to increased demand.  The flights continued for about four months before COVID forced Alliance Air to drop the route. The resumption of the Jaffna service comes shortly after airlines announced to expansion in Asian regions. Going ahead, Alliance Air could start operations in other nearby countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
