Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air plans to start low-cost services to Honolulu from Las Vegas and Fresno, California. From late June, Allegiant will fly three times a week between Las Vegas and Honolulu and once a week between Fresno and Honolulu, at $174 each way. The airline president Andrew Levy said he hopes to add more services to Honolulu from other cities in the western US soon. The airline will use 757s to serve Hawaii, because the island is outside the range of its existing fleet of older McDonnell Douglas MD-80s.
