Latvian national carrier airBaltic has launched its first seasonal base in Gran Canaria, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, from where two A220-300 aircraft will serve a total of 10 different routes. “This is the first seasonal base of airBaltic, as well as the first base outside of the Baltics and Finland,” confirmed Martin Gauss, president and CEO. “By tapping into the strong and growing demand during the winter months between Northern Europe and the Canary Islands, we will also increase our aircraft utilization,” he elaborated. The base in Gran Canaria will operate two flights a week to Riga in Lativa,
