Speaking at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) meeting in Doha, Alexandre de Juniac, chief executive of Air France-KLM, says that Etihad’s purchase of a 49% stake in Alitalia would be beneficial to shareholders. Air France-KLM owns a 7.08% share in the Italian flag carrier. Camiel Eurlings, CEO of KLM, echoed the support, commenting that it would be in the “interest of the new shareholder to make Alitalia (a) success” and therefore it “it would be against the interest of Alitalia to stop the partnership”.
