As suggested in various media reports, Air France has confirmed that it is opening talks with Boeing regarding its order for 13 787-9s. The carrier is planning to accelerate the retirement of its A340s as planned but that these will not be replaced by 787s as had been initially planned. Air France has committed to taking 13 787-9s from Boeing and three on lease from AerCap but it has also decided to scale back its long-haul fleet from 107 aircraft in 2015 to 93 in 2017, cutting capacity by 10% as part of its cost cutting drive.
