French airline Aigle Azur has announced plans to fly direct commercial flights from Paris to Baghdad. The inaugural flight, the first for 20 years, begins on October 30 and two weeks later the the regular programme will be launched, offering two flights a week to the Iraqi capital from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. A spokesperson from Aigle Azur said it was in talks with Air France, which suspended flights to Baghdad at the start of the Gulf, for it to transfer passengers arriving in Paris on to Baghdad.
